Carrot, Apple Smoothie

Place all of the ingredients in your Nutribullet or Vitamix.

  • 2 large carrots, washed and chopped
  • 1 large sweet apple, washed, cored and chopped
  • the juice of one lemon
  • 1/4 of a sweet potato, washed and chopped

Blend until smooth.

Now, I’ve already talked about the health benefits of carrots so how about we discuss what’s up with sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are very high in Vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 helps reduce the chemical homocysteine in our bodies.  Homocysteine has been linked with degenerative diseases, including the prevention of heart attacks.

Carrot, Apple and Pear Juice

So, the other night my Guy came home with a juicer for me! What a guy right? Generally I’ve been ‘juicing’ with either a Nutri-Bullet or a Vitamix. At first I wasn’t sure what to think when he showed up with it. I’ve had juicers in the past and I know it takes a bit more time to juice then simply blend and cleaning the juicer can be a touch more of a hassle. But, I do have to say I’m really enjoying the incredible taste of my mixes much more so than with the high speed blenders. The following juice really has such a bright favor from the pear and cranberries.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large carrots, washed, peeled and chopped
  • 1 pink lady apple, chopped
  • 1/2 large Anjou pear, chopped
  • 4 large leaves of Swiss Chard
  • 1/4 cup fresh cranberries

Directions:

Chop all fruits and vegetables up and juice. Easy as that! And, actually it really wasn’t too bad to clean up the juicer- only took a few minutes.
